The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday lambasted the Centre over price rise of food items and essential commodities and also took pot-shots at United Progressive Alliance (UPA) member Trinamool Congress for opportunism.
“In spite of repeated assurances since last year by the Congress Party, the common people have got only a string of pronouncements and empty assurances but no concrete action to rein in the inflation,” the BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said on Monday.
He termed the assurances by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee as “hollow and meaningless”.
“The UPA Government has turned a blind eye to the hardship caused to the aam aadmi. The Government seems to be afflicted by paralysis of will and action and has not been Iable to formulate any strategy to tackle price rise. The Wholesale Price Index has risen by over 10 per cent,” it stated.
The BJP also accused Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee of practising opportunism in her policies.
“On one hand, Mamata Banerjee opposes the UPA in public and on the other she continues to support the same inept Government. Rahul Gandhi has gone to the extent of blaming the coalition politics for the same. BJP would like to know that why should the common man suffer due to the ineptitude of the coalition UPA government?” he said.
