CWG: International media praises India

The Commonwealth Games concluded at New Delhi on Thursday in a burst of colour and culture proving the fact that India can successfully organize such a huge event, and the international media loved it.

After a series of negative publicity ahead of the Games owing to India’s unpreparedness and hygiene standards, came the praise for pulling off the event convincingly.

It was a tense moment for the entire nation as scandals continued to hit the games before it begun and the media continued to criticize the Indian organizers as well the venues.

But after the spectacular event the media has appreciated the Delhi edition of the games quite significantly.

British media house ?The Independent? commented: ?These were the best Commonwealth Games ever.?

Iconic British media channel ‘British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’ mentioned: ?Commonwealth Games: India’s pride.?

They also appreciated the closing ceremony of the event as a ?spectacular? one.

The Guardian on the other hand praised India as they reported: ?Commonwealth Games 2010 finish with India triumphant.?

The Australian media house ?The Age? appreciated the contribution of the common man in Delhi for making it a grand success.

?The Age? quoted: ?HERE’S something you probably haven’t read this past fortnight: the people of Delhi have done a terrific job, and are entitled to be proud. Faced with greater hurdles than Sally Pearson will ever clear, they’ve pulled it off admirably, and deserve better than the carping, nit-picking and borderline racism that has informed coverage of the event.?

?Locals have been left to pick up the pieces, and done so manfully,? the Australian media quoted.
