New Delhi : The Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) has said it is currently under the process of examining the fares posted by domestic carriers on their websites as per its directive.
The airlines, most of whom were resorting to raising the fares exorbitantly on the last minute especially on prime routes over past few months, were ordered on Monday to upload route wise fares across their network on their websites to maintain a “transparency” in tariff and make the details less obscure for consumers.
The DCGA said on Wednesday that all the airlines have fallen in line and have have uploaded the airfares on their respective websites. The data is now being analysed sector-wise and fare-category wise.
Even though the airlines have posted airfares online, some media reports on Wednesday said that the private carriers have actually attempted to sidestep the objective by posting tariffs in non-user friendly language.
The DCGA said that it is sniffing through the charts for discrepancies and its observations will be communicated to the airlines to make it more passenger friendly.
