Eight arrested for thrashing Delhi hotel official Bhupender Nagar

Eight people have been arrested for attacking the chief security officer of a five-star hotel here, police said Saturday. The arrested men are accused of thrashing the chief security officer of the Hilton-run Eros Hotel and his friends with iron rods near the Suryaa Hotel in New Friends Colony area early Feb 13, police said.

The security officer, Bhupender Nagar, 27, had denied the attackers entry to the Eros’ club Jynxxx Feb 12.

The attackers — Rocky, Vikas Chauhan, Mahendra and Bobby — followed Nagar after he left the hotel with his friends Vinod Kumar, Manu and Sharad, and cornered him near the Suryaa. They forced the four out of their car at gunpoint and assaulted them with iron rods, police said.

The brawl continued for 30 minutes until one of the victims managed to call police.

The manager of Jynxxx, Rohit Tomar, alleged police had caught three of the attackers on the spot but later let them go.

He also said the attackers frequently visited the club and created a ruckus. The club had filed a police complaint against them two months back for misbehaving with some guests.

According to Tomar, the accused men came to the club again Feb 12, but Nagar denied them entry.

The victims allege police had invoked weaker sections of the law against the attackers to help them escape punishment.

All the eight arrested men are believed to belong to the same group, police said.
