New Delhi : The Enforcement Directorate has got several clues to move on 2G specturm scam after grilling former Telecom Minister A Raja’s close aide R K Chandolia.
ED officials have questioned Chandolia, ex-personal secretary to Raja at the time of the spectrum allocation in 2008, for seven hours on Thursday and noted many clues to move onto the investigation, media reports said on Friday.
Many believe that Chandolia is in the know of many of the transactions in the controversial spectrum allocation. Chandola was summoned under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Chandola was sent back to his parent department, Indian Economic Services IES), shortly after Kapil Sibal was given Telecom ministry.
The ED was looking for answer on the issue of the first-come-first-served basis for allocation of spectrum in 2008 after the cut off date for receiving applications was advanced by a week from Oct 1, 2007 to Sep 25.
The ED had questioned in all aspects of the 2G scam and on his personal financial details. Banking on Chandolia’s replies the ED might summon some more government officials in the case, they added.
