Kashmir decision after all-party meet : A K Antony
New Delhi : Defence Minister A K Antony on Tuesday said he was expecting a decision on Kashmir after Wednesday’s all party meeting convened by the Centre.
He said the Centre was very concerned over the situation in the valley. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in a meeting on Monday could not reach a decision on Kashmir, especially on lifting of the Armed Forces (Special Power) Act in some districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Important decisions will have to be taken after assessing all aspects. Yesterday’s Cabinet Community on Security had a very long meeting. Ultimately, we decided to take into confidence all the major parties before taking a final decision, ” Antony told reporters , adding the move was necessary to to involve everybody.
“We will take a decision. Tomorrow is the all-party meeting. After that, we will take a decision,” the Minister said when asked why the CCS was unable to take a decision yesterday on issues, including withdrawal of AFSPA Act from some parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Commenting on Monday’s violence in Kashmir following reports of desecration of the “Quoran”, Antony said, “we are pained to see all those incidents.”
