MCD teachers racket busted, seven arrested
Seven people were arrested in connection with fraudulent appointment of contract-based teachers in Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD) run primary schools, police said Tuesday.
Sachin, 21, Sanjeev Kumar, 22, Suresh, 25, Ashok, 28, Aftab, 48, Sunil Kumar, 35 and Santosh, 35 were arrested after MCD’s Deputy Director (Education), Civil Lines zone, Kanwar Singh filed a complaint regarding suspicious appointment letters of Sachin, Sanjeev and Suresh.
The three were working as contract based teachers in north Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. Upon interrogation, they confessed their ineligibility for the posts and revealed the fraud.
“Desperately searching for jobs, they came in contact with Haryana residents, Raju (name changed) and Hari (name changed). For a fee, they assured the duo jobs of teachers on contract basis in MCD schools,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya.
Further interrogation revealed that Ashok was the kingpin of the racket. He is also a teacher, on contract basis, in Wazirabad MCD school.
“The accused is associated with Aftab, Sunil, Santosh and Pawan. The group had forged a copy of the appointment letter, which they issued to interested parties having false and forged signature and seal of deputy director (education) Civil Line zone,” a police official said.
Five blank appointment letters, fake seal and Rs.75,000 rupees were recovered. Further investigations are on.
