Minor girl raped in delhi, neighbour held

New Delhi  :  A 12-year-old deaf and dumb girl was Wednesday raped here by her neighbour, police said. The accused was beaten up by area residents and handed over to police.

Chhattulal, 42, who runs an electrical appliance repair shop, pulled the girl inside his shop and raped her around 2 p.m. when she was playing outside her home in Bhalaswa Dairy area in West Delhi.

When people saw the girl coming out of his shop crying and bleeding, they caught the man and thrashed him before handing him over to police.

The girl was rushed to a hospital.

Angry residents of the area staged a protest at the hospital and Bhalaswa Dairy police station after the news spread. However, the situation was brought under control, police said.
