No solution apart from JPC: LK Advani

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani on Thursday said the only way to end the Parliament stalemate is to agree to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

?We want stalemate to end; but the UPA government should promise a probe into the 2G scam. There is no solution apart from JPC,? Advani said here on Thursday.

?National Democratic Alliance (NDA) feels the attitude towards corruption must be fought against. We appeal to the government to help resume order in the House by agreeing to JPC,? he said.

Indian Parliament went without its Question Hour for the 15th consecutive day on Thursday as the opposition demand for a JPC probe into the 2G scam saw the adjournment of the House again.

Soon after the lower house (Lok Sabha) began its session at 11 am, the opposition lawmakers from BJP, Shiv Sena and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) shouted for a JPC probe like every day and trooped into the well, as Speaker Meira Kumar had no option but to adjourn the house rented by slogans.

The Rajya Sabha was no different and it was adjourned too by chairman Hamid Ansari.

The All-party meeting on Tuesday failed to break the logjam that has almost deadlocked the Indian Parliament over the 2G scam.

The Opposition stuck to its demand for a JPC while the government mooted a Supreme Court administered Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the scam that has more grist to its mill now with the release of Radia tapes pointing at corporate lobbying to influence ministerial appointments.
