Parliament logjam continues for 21st day
New Delhi : The Parliament logjam continued for the 21st working day over the Opposition?s demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum allocation scandal.
Soon after the lower house (Lok Sabha) began its session with Speaker Meira Kumar offering obituary references to two former MPs- Meghrajji and M Rajashekara Murthy, the opposition lawmakers from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) shouted for a JPC probe like every day and trooped into the well.
Some protesting members even carried placards with newspaper clippings and slogans on the scam.
Kumar had no option but to adjourn the house rented by slogans.
The Rajya Sabha was no different. Members from BJP and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) trooped into the well even before chairman Hamid Ansari could take his seat.
The Upper House was adjourned for the day after noisy protests by Opposition benches.
All 21 working days of the Winter Session of the Parliament have been lost till Friday as the Opposition remained unrelenting on its demand for a JPC probe into the 2G scam, while the government refused to allow it.
A CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report had held former Telecom Minister A Raja ?personally responsible? for costing the national exchequer a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore through ?illogical? sale of 2G telecom spectrum in 2008.
