Smriti Irani demands Delhi CM?s resignation

Former TV-star and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha President Smriti Irani on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit over rising crimes in the nation?s capital.

On International Women?s Day, when a student of Delhi University Radhika Tanwar was shot dead by an unknown assailant, the BJP women wing leader said that Dikshit must resign over her failure to curb crime.

?An admission by the Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit that ‘Delhi is unsafe for women’ highlights the sheer helplessness and incompetence of the Congress government in the state,? said the leader from the opposition party.

Irani said that the commitment to reducing crime in the region has been ?reduced to a mere lip service by the Delhi government and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA)?.
