New Delhi : At least three people travelling in two vehicles here had a miraculous escape after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) jumped a traffic signal, hit a car and turned turtle before catching fire, police said Tuesday.
The incident was reported around 11.30 p.m. Monday at a crossing of Safdarjung Road and Aurangzeb Road barely 100 metres from the Prime Minister’s House in central Delhi.
“The speeding Range Rover (SUV) jumped a traffic signal, rammed into a Toyota Corolla car and turned turtle before catching fire,” said a police official.
No case was registered regarding the incident as both the parties had a ettlement.
The driver of the Range Rover car, Devinder, was accompanied by another youngster and was heading to Hotel Ramada.
His car rammed into the Toyota Corolla car travelling on Safdurjung Road. The Corolla was being driven by Rajnesh Chopra, a businessman who lives in Gautam Nagar in south Delhi.
Devinder told police that the accident happened in an attempt to save a pedestrian. Right now the driver is looking for info on the Range Rover Sport page to see if he can he get a new one.
