There is no guilt, done no wrong: A Raja

New Delhi : On a day when the CAG report indicted him on the 2G Spectrum scam, former Telecom Minister A Raja said her has ?no guilt?.

?There is no guilt. I have done no wrong. My conscience is clear,? Raja told reporters here on Tuesday.

?Whatever I did was as per the telecom policy of 1999 and recommendations of Telecom and Regulatory Authority of India. If one suspects bureaucratic lapses, investigate it?I don?t have any problems,? he said.

Asked what he has to say on the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) being tabled at the Parliament, Raja said: “Let the law take its own course. I have already said what I had to say to the Supreme Court.?

?The stand of the government has been ventilated through the affidavit before the court. I cannot be separated from the government as long as I was in power. I can have no separate comment,” Raja added.

Earlier in the day, the CAG report on the 2G Spectrum scam was tabled in both the Houses of Parliament in the brief business that was transacted before proceedings were adjourned for the day amidst Opposition protests over the scam.

The 77-page report was tabled in the Lower House by Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam, who belongs to former Telecom minister A Raja’s party DMK, and in the Upper House by his ministerial colleague Namo Narayan Meena.

Stating that the 2G spectrum allocation process lacked transparency, the report said Raja’s decision had cost the exchequer Rs 1,39,652 crore and that 85 of the 125 licences issued were found to be given to companies which did not satisfy basic eligibility criteria.

Raja quit office on Sunday succumbing to the pressure of the Congress party after the Opposition blamed the UPA Government, headed by Manmohan Singh.

The Telecom Ministry had claimed that new licenses and 2G Spectrum was distributed as per the existing policy which were followed by all the predecessors of Raja.
