IGNOU-UNESCO Science Olympiad winners announced

New Delhi : (IGNOU) will felicitate the winners of ?IGNOU-UNESCO Science Olympiad, 2010? during an award function to be held at the University’s Convention Centre on November 14.

Forty-one students from all over India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka will receive medals and awards.

The first phase of ?IGNOU-UNESCO Science Olympiad, 2010? was conducted on 22 August in which 4384 students of the 11th graders from all SAARC nations-Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, India and Sri Lanka- took part.

The examination took place in 102 centres in all these countries including 83 from within India. Of these 4384 participants, 41 have been selected for their outstanding performance and have been invited to receive Medals, Cash prizes and Merit certificates.

In addition they will take a second phase of the test on the 13th of this month. 5 toppers among them will receive Awards of Excellence for their over-all performance and four more will receive awards for their best performance in the four branches of basic sciences.

This award function coincides with former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru?s 121st Birthday, 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee) of IGNOU and 65th anniversary of UNESCO .
