JEE Main 2020: How to tackle the revisions amid the COVID-19 scare?
Previously, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had scheduled the JEE Main April exam 2020 for April 5,7,9 and 11. Due to the COVID-19 scare streaking around the globe, it isn’t feasible to travel globally and domestically. Since JEE Main may require travel by examinees, and the lockdown, not lifting any time soon, JEE main has been postponed and new dates of the JEE Main Examination will be announced after reassessment of the situation.
Lockdown on travel but not on your studies
A positive attitude does wonders which you cannot fathom. If you look at the world through a rosy lens, the world looks rosy and jubilant; if you look at the world through a grey lens, then the world looks gloomy and doomed. So, pick up yours, rosy glasses and march towards your goal. Every cloud has a silver lining and this cloud does too. The lockdown is a boon as it gives you extra time. So do not lock down your studies.
What’s your endpoint?
Student life isn’t a nomadic life but a well-planned itinerary. What does your itinerary contain? What is the last destination on the list? Sit down for a while and plan out your itinerary well. From subject to subject, topic to topic and day today. This list will set the pace and direction for your revision. Write it down neatly and stick it on the wall where you can glance at it daily and reaffirm your goals.
Let’s get down to the basics
The added time you have gained for revision can be utilized for a good cause. JEE Main revision starts with NCERT. Grab your NCERT books which possibly might have gained some cobwebs. Dust them off and get on with it. From the first page to the last page, without skipping a word, revise them well. Strengthen your foundation which you had laid out earlier.
Important and not trivial
Your focus should be on the important topics which you have already noted down. The centre of attention should be the topics that will give you more marks, boost your rank and fetch you the seat written in your name. Play smart and concentrate on comprehending nook and corner of the concepts that are super-stars.
Formulas and shortcuts
Revise your formulas as JEE Main thrives on formulae. Re-write them every day to revise them well. Learn shortcuts to solve questions as your race is against time. The lesser time you spend on a question, the more time you have to focus on other questions.
Adding touch up
You have already built and designed the building. Since you were expecting to write your exams in the first week of April, you had already studied hard and well. But the plans took a detour and you still have the building. With additional time in your hands, make the building more striking by touching upon it: it could be covering the patches or recementing.
Bear it in mind: this is the time to re-revise. Your laser-like attention should be in upgrading your weakened areas and make them your strengths.
Time is of essence
JEE Main is a game in which time is the game-changer. However well you have prepared with your concepts, but it all boils down to managing your time. Learn to play with time and how to use it for your gain. This is when mock papers and practice question papers make the cameo role. There are innumerable mock and samples out there for you to explore.
Every day solve a mock paper minimally. Simply do not go about solving the paper without setting a timer. Maintain a schedule and solve the paper only at that time. If the morning works well for you, then follow the same time for the rest of the days. This creates a uniform pattern for your brain to ease into and a routine is created.
Analyze your scores
After solving the papers, set aside at least half an hour in analyzing your results. Think about finding the loopholes in your preparation and close them. If you want to know what rank you may get with the scores you obtain, you can use a rank predictor which is available online.
Stay healthy
You are bound to snack on junk as it is easily accessible in the kitchen which is just a few feet away. Curb your cravings and try eating healthy, as much as you can. A healthy body results in a healthy mind. Replace chips with almonds, cold-drinks with water and scrolling through social media with a short nap.
Enjoy your journey
Lastly, have some faith in your efforts. This is not the time to panic, but to stay alert and enjoy this experience. It is not every day; a person gets to share their experience on study preparation for the JEE Main during lockdown amidst the COVID-19 crisis. Thus, make this story worthwhile telling.
