MBBS students demand expulsion of tainted batchmates

Srinagar  :  Students of government medical college here held protests Thursday demanding expulsion of those who managed to get admission in medical colleges through the 2012 test paper leak racket.

Dozens of medical college students, especially those belonging to the 2012 MBBS batch, gathered inside the government medical college in Karan Nagar area of the city, shouting slogans against those responsible for the 2012 test paper leak.

“It is a mental torture and trauma for all of us. Our teachers and seniors look at all of us with suspicion and scorn. We demand that those of our batchmates who managed admission through the 2012 paper leak racket must be immediately expelled from the college to save the image of the rest of us,” said a student.

Mushtaq Ahmad Peer, former chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), has been arrested in connection with the leak of the test papers of the 2012 MBBS entrance exam.

Peer, along with two other accomplices, one of whom has turned approver, is alleged to have taken millions of rupees from parents of aspiring candidates for leaking the question papers.

The racket has shocked people in the state with demands that the entire period from 2009 to 2013, during which Peer headed BOPEE, should be probed by police.
