‘Bhaag Milkha..’ deserved berth for Oscars: Divya Dutta

Actress Divya Dutta, who impressed many with her powerful performance as Milkha Singh’s sister in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s biopic “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, feels the film deserved to be shortlisted as India’s official entry for the Academy Awards this year.

“Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” is based on the life of former athlete Milkha Singh and featured Farhan Akhtar in the title role. It garnered huge acclaim from both the critics and the audience.

“I would like to say that there were many films that were shortlisted for it, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘The Lunchbox’, ‘Ship Of Theseus’. I think we deserved but it didn’t happen,” Divya told reporters here Sunday at the red carpet of Jagran film festival Sunday.

But Divya is also happy for the Gujarati film “The Good Road” that has been chosen as India’s entry for the best foreign film at the Oscars.

She wishes luck to the National Award winning film.

“I am wishing ‘The Good Road’ all the very best. We are representing India with that film so I would like to wish that film all the very best,” Divya said.

“The Good Road” was selected over 21 films including “English Vinglish”, Malayalam film “Celluloid” and Bengali film “Shabdo”.
