Rishi Kapoor set to play lead with Neetu
He might be the most wooed Bollywood star of a bygone era, but being cast as the lead of a mainstream movie even as he turned 58 on Saturday proves Rishi Kapoor is one of those guys who simply refuse to get old.
The actor celebrated his 58th birthday on Saturday even though he says he did not have any grand plans but is clearly in a peppy mood, apparently quite excited to play the lead in director Habib Faisal?s upcoming venture Do Dooni Chaar.
What makes the film even more special is the fact that Faisal?s script has also reportedly convinced Kapoor?s wife Neetu to come out of her hibernation and star together as an onscreen pair after about 30 years.
Despite their brief appearance in the Saif Ali Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer 2009 film Love Aaj Kal, the duo haven?t been seen onscreen in a full fledged Bollywood pruduction since the late 70s.
Kapoor, even though he plays a 54-year-old teacher in the film, says he was a bit taken aback on being cast as the main man of the Walt Disney production which is expected to hit screens on Oct 8.
But the real eyebrow-raiser for the film was obviously the return of Neetu who has stayed virtually off screen playing the goody two-shoes Kapoor mistress since the early 80s.
However a 2 hour narration finally convinced to Neetu to don her acting boots again for the role that had reportedly been also offered to Juhi Chawla.
Apparently it was the strength of the story, which revolves around the family of a middle class teacher, that convinced both him and his wife to return to the silver screen says Kapoor.
