Los Angeles : British singer Adele beat Lady Gaga in three categories at the 54th Grammy awards, but the latter is only praise for the “Rolling in the deep” crooner, who emerged the biggest winner at the recent ceremony.
“What a beautiful night last night was, Adele deserved every award she won and perhaps an extra one for being such a kind and lovely woman,” tweeted Gaga, who was nominated for her work on the album “Born This Way”
Gaga and Adele were nominated together in three categories — best pop solo performance, best pop vocal album and album of the year. But Adele swept them all.
Adele, 23, took home the best pop solo performance award for “Someone like you”, and the best pop vocal album and album of the year for “21”. She also won the record of the year, song of the year and short form music video awards for her chart-topping number “Rolling in the deep”.
With six Grammy awards in her pocket Sunday, Adele tied Beyonce Knowles’ six Grammy wins in 2009 — a record for most awards won by a female artist in one night, according to the official Grammy website.
