ITC Sangeet Sammelan 2010 from Friday

Kolkata : It is time for the people in this city to savour the tunes of Indian classical music as iconic ITC Sangeet Research Academy announced its annual ?Sangeet Sammelan 2010? here on Tuesday.

The event will be held at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy campus on the occasion of the ITC Centenary.

It will present performances by illustrious gurus of the Academy and their brightest scholars, highlighting the age-old tradition of the ?Guru Shishya Parampara?.

?Just liker father has a reation with child, guru has a relation with disciple. If both cannot unite then this education is not possible,? said Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.

?For becoming a good musician one needs to practice rigorously,? he added.

But the most attractive part of the day was of course a brilliant performance by a young prodigy- Snehesh Nag, who mesmerized the audience present with his wonderful sitar performance.

?It needs some practice and patience. I took talim from my father,? the 14-year-old said on his brilliant performance.

?I want to be a musician, a sitarist,? Snehesh, the son of sitarist Sugato Nag, added.

Snehesh said he was going to perform ?rag shyam kalan? on Sunday at the ?Sangeet Sammelan 2010?.

The three- day music extravaganza will begin from Nov 12 and will feature few of the best names of Indian classical music like- Bickram Ghosh, Vidushi Bombay Jayashri,Pandit Shankar Ghosh, Uday Bhawalkar, Rimpa Siva, Omkar Dadarkar.
