Pricey divorce for Prabhu Deva
In what could be the most expensive divorce in the Tamil film industry, actor-choreographer Prabhu Deva and his estranged wife Latha have filed a petition to be separated before a Family Court.
As part of the settlement, Prabhu Deva has agreed to give up properties estimated to be between Rs 25-30 crore, reports said
These include his sea side villa at Injambakkam, a bungalow in upmarket Anna Nagar along with three flats and a property in Hyderabad and two cars.
Apart from that, the actor is also expected to cough up a one-time alimony of Rs 10 Lakh to Latha and take care of the educational and medical expenses of his two sons.
In return, his wife of 15 years has agreed to relinquish all her rights and claims over the actor and his other properties and has agreed to withdraw all the cases she filed against him.
Ramlath, or Latha, was an actress before her marriage and the couple have three children. The troubles started after a she filed petition seeking restitution of conjugal rights and alleging that Prabhu Deva was having an affair with another actress.
The couple had been living separately for the last two years. On Tuesday, the two submitted a joint affidavit in the court seeking divorce through mutual consent.
The hefty settlement is expected will be formalised by a court decree after a period of six months.
