Shiamak Davar on dance reality show

Actor and grandmaster Mithun Chakraborty just loves throwing surprises at the members of his big DID family.

And the latest person he managed to catch completely off-guard on the sets of Zee TV’s dance reality show is talented Master Marzi Pestonji!

After all, Marzi had no clue what was coming his way when Dada orchestrated a surprise visit by none other than the man who Marzi considers God – Shiamak Davar!

On umpteen occasions in the history of the show, whenever Marzi’s choreography has been praised to the moon, he has humbly passed on every little ounce of credit to his mentor Shiamak Davar, saying that if it were not for him, he’d not have known the D of dancing!

Seeing his deep-rooted admiration for Shiamak, Grandmaster Mithun Da and the creative team behind the show decided to approach the hottest trend-setter in the world of dance and choreography without Marzi’s knowledge and invited him to the show!

With utmost care taken to ensure that Marzi does not get the slightest wind of his guru’s visit, Shiamak was sneeked in to the studio and onto the stage with a complete blackout … As the spotlights went on, there were two giant butterflies perched on the stage.

As they parted in opposite directions, the man who turned around mysteriously and waved out to his prot?g? was none other than Shiamak Davar.

The expression on Master Marzi’s face was priceless when Shiamak said, “This one’s for you, Marzi!” and gave a spectacular performance to the track I’m Alive by Celine Dion.

And as is Shiamak’s speciality always, he not only danced but sang this popular chartbuster too, leaving the crowd begging for an encore!

Later in the show, it was a memorable moment when Marzi joined Shiamak on stage and grooved to his famous title track of Dhoom 2 picturised on Hrithik!

Watching contestants of Marzi Ke Mastaane enthrall the audience with awe-inspiring dance acts choreographed by Marzi, Shiamak said, “Today, I feel like a proud daddy!”

Shiamak went on to add, “When I was just about getting started, men who were into dance were frowned upon. It was considered a female prerogative to dance. It took years before people accepted and appreciated my own unique brand of dancing and the term ‘Shiamak style’ got coined.

?I deeply regret the fact that in my times, there wasn’t a platform such as Dance India Dance to showcase my talent. Life would’ve been helluva lot easier if such fabulous opportunities existed in my times!”

Pleased at himself for having managed to surprise and delight his ‘Udibaba’ (That’s what Mithun Da calls Marzi!), Dada was heard saying, “I am particularly fond of Marzi. His easygoing nature and immese talent have earned him a very high place in my eyes. I am glad we could get his guru Shiamak on to the show and leave him speechless and overjoyed!”
