26/11 martyr Sandeep Unnikrishnan?s uncle attempts self-immolation

New Delhi : Uncle of 26/11 hero Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, K Mohanan, is battling for life at a local hospital here after an alleged self-immolation attempt in front of the Parliament late Thursday evening.

He was protesting that the government was not doing enough to honour the victims of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

A native of Kozhikode in Kerala, Mohanan set himself on fire near Vijay Chowk.

He was rushed to a hospital with over 90 per cent burn injuries.

Officials attending to Mohanan said he was not satisfied with the government?s attitude towards the martyrs.

He was also extremely disturbed by his nephew?s death and wanted to feel the pain Sandeep must have felt when he was shot by terrorists, the officials added.

Major Sandeep was killed in Taj hotel during the Mumbai attacks.

Mohanan is believed to have reached the national capital on Jan 30 and waited for a couple of days before trying self-immolation.
