CBI quizzes Niira Radia at residence

Corporate lobbyist Niira Radia was interrogated by the Central Bureau of Investigation’s headquarters on Tuesday at her south Delhi resident, a day after the probing agency summoned her in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.

Sources said Radia was to reach the CBI’s central office but later was quizzed at home.

The CBI in an affidavit to the Supreme Court last month said that it would investigate Radia’s role in the 2 G spectrum. The CBI believed there has been irregularities of “enormous magnitude” having international ramifications in the scam.

The CBI had told the apex court it would examine the telephonic conversations between Radia and others and if required it would quiz the corporate lobbyist at an appropriate time.

Before the CBI, Radia was quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate, which is probing the 2 G scam, last month.

Radia’s Chhatarpur farmhouse and Vaishnavi Communications office in Delhi were searched by the CBI on Dec 15 as part of a massive raid in 34 places across Delhi and Tamil Nadu that included A Raja, his relatives, former TRAI chairman Pradip Baijal and some key associates of DMK leaders.

Baijal, who joined Radia’s firm Neosis after his retirement, was questioned for the second time on Monday.
