New Delhi, May 7 (IBNS): Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Saturday slammed the Indian Parliament?s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report into the 2G spectrum scandal, calling it a ?coup attempt? by the panel led by an opposition leader.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murli Manohar Joshi-led PAC which submitted its draft report into the 2008 scam only to be immediately rejected by its own members had criticised Chidambaram?s role, who was then the Union Finance Minister.
As Finance Minister, it was Chidambaram?s duty to be the guardian of public money but he failed to stop former Telecoms Minister A Raja from giving away 2G spectrum and licenses arbitrarily, causing huge losses to the national exchequer, the report had said.
However, members of the PAC, mostly from the ruling parties of Congress and the DMK, had rejected the report, right after it was tabled and said that it was ?unilateral and undemocratic?.
