Aarushi: Talwars? plea against closure report rejected

A Ghaziabad court on Monday rejected the application filed by Aarushi Talwar?s parents to oppose the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) closure report in the sensational murder case of the teenager.

Rejecting Rajesh and Nupur Talwar?s application, the court ordered the CBI officer, investigating the case, to appear before it with ?relevant? documents, on Jan 7, the next date of the hearing.

“I don’t want the case to be closed. I want justice for my daughter,” Rajesh Talwar told reporters outside the court.

?I have gone through each and every test available in this country. Is there anything else that I can do to prove my innocence? If there is, then I would want to do that,? he said, commenting on CBI?s suspicion on him in the case.

Earlier the same day (Monday), the special CBI court questioned why was the investigating agency in a hurry to file the close report of the Aarushi Talwar murder case.

Special Judicial Magistrate (CBI) Preeti Singh came down heavily upon CBI counsel R.K Saini when he submitted the closure report before her.

“What was the hurry (in filing a closure report)? Where are the documents (annexures) of the closure report?” the magistrate asked.

In reply, Saini said: “Our process is that we file the closure report when a decision in this regard is taken.” Saini also said the CBI submitted the report in a hurry because it wanted to clear backlog.

The magistrate then registered the closure report and gave time to the investigating officer to also submit the annexures. The court is now expected to decide whether the case should be re-investigated.

The report was filed on December 29 after two-and-a-half years of investigation.

Rajesh and his wife Nupur, both dentists, have lashed out at the CBI for making ?false and baseless? allegations against them.

Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found murdered, with her throat slit, at the Talwar?s residence in Noida on the morning of May 16, 2008. The body of Hemraj, the Talwars? help, was found on the terrace the next day.
