Ajmal Kasab assaults jail staff
Mumbai : A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showing Mumbai terror attack convict Ajmal Amir Kasab assaulting jail staff at the high security Arthur Road jail here, has been submitted before the Bombay High Court by the prosecution.
Kasab, who is facing death row, reportedly attacked a jail superintendent on September 1, the CCTV footage of which was submitted before the court.
The Court is likely to view the footage later on Tuesday, before passing an order on Wednesday on Kasab?s plea for an interview with his lawyers out of earshot of jail staff.
Submitting the CCTV footage, the prosecution maintained that Kasab was a dangerous man and presence of jail staff near him was necessary.
Kasab, the lone surviving Mumbai gunman, was convicted with 86 charges by special judge ML Tahaliyani on May 3, 2010, with the charges ranging from waging war against the nation to indulging in terror acts.
Kasab was among the ten terrorists who had launched on a 60-hour audacious attack on the night of November 26, 2008, on India?s financial capital Mumbai.
