SRINAGAR, Apr 4: Army Sunday foiled another infiltration bid on Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir?s Kupwara district and gunned down two infiltrators.
Defence spokesman in Srinagar ?Lt Col J.S. Barar in statement said that two militants were killed by the troopers of the army in Keran sector of the LOC today (Sunday) thus foiling yet another infiltration bid by the militants from across the border. He added that the identity of duo has not been established yet and further searches were on in the area.
Barar said that in the wee hours of Sunday, troops observed suspicious movement near the Line of Control in Keran Sector.?Two AK rifles, six magazines, 96 rounds, three grenades, an ICOM radio set and a wire cutter have been recovered from the site?, he added.
This is the second infiltration bid in the Sector in the last two weeks. Eight infiltrators were earlier killed in the same area in the last week of March.
With intelligence inputs suggesting that around 400 militants had been waiting to sneak into Kashmir valley this summer, the army and other security forces have been put on high alert.
