Arrest of Jagan Reddy (Blog)

Action by CBI against Jagan Reddy following arrest in disproportionate assets case cannot be held unjustified in view of large empire of richness set up by the family even during life-time of YSR Reddy.

Only point of surprise and rather injustice is why and how CBI did not take such an action against YSR Reddy in his life-time during his regime as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, also because the empire of richness was built by his family at that time only.

It proves beyond doubt that CBI cannot dare to act against a really corrupt and dishonest politician having acquired enormous wealth if he/she himself is a political ruler and/or a favourite of political rulers.

Even now there are many political heavyweights requiring similar action, but evidently CBI will never do so because such political heavyweights are political backbone of existing political rulers.

Courts have often passed stringent-most strictures against CBI for its usual biased roles especially against those in politics.

It is indeed unfortunate that CBI was placed under second schedule of RTI Act snatching right of vigilant citizens to quiz CBI for its biased roles and other such irregularities.

Many former CBI Chiefs have repeatedly talked about political interference in working of CBI which is evident clear when CBI takes sudden U-turn in cases involving political heavyweights only as per political requirements of governments.

It is time that CBI may again be placed under RTI Act. Section 8 of the Act has sufficient provisions for denial of information including those impeding investigating-process.

Also CBI Chief should be selected by consensus of opposition leader in the manner Vigilance and Information Commissioners are appointed.
