BJP slams Congress on corruption

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday made a scathing attack on the Congress over the issue of corruption, saying the party was resorting to diversionary tactics to undermine the various scams.

“Has Congress become neutral towards corruption?” asked BJP national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman, referring to the “inaction” on the ongoing Adarsh Housing scam and the Commonwealth Games irregularities.

“Resigantion [over the scam] is not even accepted,” she said in a press conference here referring to the issue of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan who is embroiled in the scam and had offered to resign, but not asked to step down yet by Congress.

“Diversionary tactics is what the AICC meeting stood up for,” she said, on the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session during the day where Congress president Sonia Gandhi kept mum on the corruption issue and attacked the right wing forces over terror links.

Sitharaman also attacked Congress on the Kashmir issue and said the party was pandering to the Azaadi aspirations of the separatist forces by undermining the Indian Constitution.
