BJP still firm on JPC demand
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said that it continued to stick to demand for a joint-parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the alleged 2G spectrum scam, threatening to logjam the Budget session of the Parliament.
Proceedings of the House were gridlocked by an uncharacteristically unified opposition resulting in only seven actual hours of work in the 22-day winter session of the Parliament.
The ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has rejected, the Opposition?s demand saying that the ongoing Public Accounts Committee (PAC) probe is sufficient.
Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh on Saturday said, ?We continue to stick with our demand for JPC and the Government continues to run the risk of putting the forthcoming Budget Session in jeopardy.?
He also took on the government on the surging inflation figures and corruption, asking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to explain his stand over the controversy around the appointment of P J Thomas as the country?s Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC).
