Black money: Govt to reveal names after cases

New Delhi, Feb 10 (IBNS) The government on Thursday agreed to reveal in public domain names of people with black money once cases are registered against them.

Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium informed this to the Supreme Court during a hearing on a petition that seeks the apex court?s intervention to ensure that the government brings back all the black money stashed away in foreign banks.
?
?The solicitor general, appearing before a bench headed by Justice B Sudershan Reddy, said the government has already issued notice to persons accused of having black money and their names will be revealed after cases are registered against them.
?
?Anil Divan, petitioner Ram Jethmalani?s advocate, contended that the government was not taking adequate measures to bring back the black money.
?
?Divan said the government had merely issued Letters Rogatory to five countries seeking information on black money, with no follow-up action ? a charge refuted by Subramanium.
?
?The apex court also asked the government to ensure that Pune-based businessman Hasan Ali Khan, accused of stashing black money in foreign banks, does not leave the country and faces prosecution.
?
??It’s your duty to ensure that he is available to face prosecution,? the court said.
?
?A sealed envelope was submitted to the court by the advocate general.
?

?The next date of hearing has been fixed on March 3.
