CBI likely to quiz Suresh Kalmadi after return from China

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the alleged Commonwealth Games scams, is likely to grill and may also arrest Suresh Kalmadi, once the Congress Member of Parliament returns from China.

The CBI is believed to have collected substantial documentary evidences against Kalmadi, who is also the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman, for his alleged alleged suspicious role in the Queen’s Baton relay controversy, reports said.

The CBI officials have collected direct evidence against Kalmadi during the custodial interrogation of TS Darbari and Sanjay Mahendroo.

They said on the strength of the documentary evidences they might take Kalmadi in their custody after his return from the Asian Games in Guangzhou.

The reports said Kalmadi’s close aids Darbari and Mahendroo had confessed that Kalmadi was aware of the siphoning off funds to their foreign associates.

In a letter to the CBI director on Nov 3, 2010, Darbari said Kalmadi was at the helm of affairs and all decisions were endorsed and approved by him.
