CBI to reinvestigate Malegaon case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is about to reinvestigate the 2006 Malegaon blast case following the confessions of prime suspect Swami Aseemanand, reports said on Thursday.
Aseemanand, also the main accused of 2007 Samjhauta Express blast, had reportedly made confession statements last month that linked Hindu extremists to a number of terror incidents, including the Malegaon blasts.
A special court on Thursday granted permission to reinvestigate the terror act in which 37 people were killed and over 100 injured in on September 8, 2006 in Malegaon, a communally sensitive area in Maharashtra.
CBI’s legal consel, citing Aseemanand’s confession to a magistrate, appealed to carry out further investigations following the fresh disclosures by the Hindu extremist leader.
