CWG: Delhi govt approves Shunglu report
The Delhi Government on Wednesday said it is ready to respond to VK Shunglu Committee report that blamed Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for the financial losses in Commonwealth Games (CWG).
“The Cabinet has approved the report prepared by the three-member committee. We are giving paragraph-wise response to the Shunglu Committee’s findings. It will be sent to the Home Ministry in the next two-three days,” Dikshit told reporters after a Cabinet meeting.
“We have received responses from MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) and NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) and we will forward their responses also along with ours,” she said.
According to sources, the Cabinet has rejected all findings of the Committee, appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to probe the CWG scam.
In April, the Union Home Ministry had sent a copy of Shunglu report of Sheila government and asked to file a detailed response within a month.
The Shunglu report had apparently blamed the Delhi government directly for losses amassing up to Rs 280 crores.
It also held Lt Governor of Delhi Tejinder Khanna responsible for losses to the tune of Rs 220 crores relating to the CWG village.
The government is conducting thorough probes into the reported scams in the CWG, which New Delhi hosted last October.
