CWG scam : Fresh CBI raids on

Sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday conducted fresh raids on several premises of the Commonwealth Games officials, in connection with the alleged corruption and siphoning of funds of the games.

The CBI raids, in at least ten areas, are being conducted in Delhi and its adjoining areas, a night after the Games’ Organising Committee (OC) chairman Suresh Kalmadi was questioned by the top investigating agency over eight hours on his involvement in the alleged scam.

The CBI registered a fresh First Information Report on Wednesday in connection with its probe into the alleged multi-crore scam.

The FIR named Games’ director general V K Verma.

CBI’s FIR, the fourth in the case, is in connection with the contracts given out to four firms, involving an estimated Rs 600 crore.

During interrogation, Kalmadi was asked many questions related to CWG overlays irregularities, most of the question being related to the inflated prices for several projects.

CBI officials hinted that Kalmadi might be questioned again.
