Delhi CM asks people to conserve water

New Delhi  :  Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday urged people to conserve water, saying there is a limit to the natural resource.

“I appeal to the people not to waste water. There are constraints to the quantity of water we get from the Himalayas and Uttarakhand,” Dikshit said in her address on Independence Day.

Addressing students on the occasion, Dikshit said her government would be the first to introduce the food security scheme under which 73 lakh people would be covered. It would be implemented from Aug 20.

She spoke about the state of affairs in 1998 when there were power cuts of more than 11 hours at a stretch. “The power situation is comfortable now, with successful power reforms.”

The chief minister said that her government was keen to switch over to e-governance in most departments to ensure transparency and accuracy.
