Delhi gang-rape victim ‘very critical’
New Delhi : The 23-year-old Delhi girl who was gang-raped and thrown off a bus is in a “very critical condition”, authorities at the Safdarjung Hospital here said.
“The patient is very critical,” S.N. Makwana, press information officer at the Safdarjung Hospital, told IANS.
The condition of the girl had deteriorated and she was placed on ventilator with grave injuries in the stomach and intestines, the official said. She bore signs of having been beaten with a blunt object, he added.
The incident occurred Sunday night when the girl along with her boyfriend boarded a private bus at Munirka to go to Dwarka after watching a movie.
The girl was beaten up, stripped and raped by at least a dozen men who were inside the bus. Both the girl and the boy, who was also beaten up when he resisted, were thrown off the bus near Mahipalpur.
The boy was taken Safdarjung but discharged.
