Delhi HC rejects NIA probe in JNU case

New Delhi : On Tuesday the Delhi High Court rejected a plea seeking a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the alleged anti-national activities on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus.

The court said that  “The incident took place only on February 9. This court is confident that Delhi Police will investigate all the aspects. The petitioner approached the court without making any representation to any government authorities. The petition is premature”.

What provoked the incident and who all were involved in it is still unknown and the Delhi police is investigating it, Lawyer Anil Soni said.

Terming it as “premature”, the court exuded confidence that the Delhi Police can investigate the incident. The HC on Monday had agreed to hear the plea filed by a Delhi lawyer. Lawyer Anil Soni said what provoked the incident and who all were involved in it is still unknown and the Delhi police is investigating it. He added that the Centre will give suo moto to NIA if needed. He further added that it was a premature period that is why it is dismissed.
