Panic struck thousands of households in northern parts of India and neighbouring Pakistan early Wednesday when an earthquake shook the region.
The Indian Meteorological Department confirmed the tremor, which measured 7.4 on the Richter Scale.
It was felt heavily at around 1:55am in Delhi region, Rajasthan, Haryana and the other areas.
The Met office said the quake’s epicenter was southwestern Pakistan.
There had been no immediate report of casualty, but reports said damages were noticed in the structures in Pakistan.
Many residents in New Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan said they were initially confused by the sudden jerk in sleep, but realising it was an earth quake, they left home in dark night for safety.
