Farmers’ leader Mahendra Singh Tikait passes away

Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh : Peasant leader Mahendra Singh Tikait died here on Sunday after protracted illness. He was 76.

Tikait was the president of Bharatiya Kisan Union.

He was suffering from cancer.

His death was condoled by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other senior political leaders.

Tikait was a fighter of the farmers’ cause and had launched several movements.
