Firing erupts again at Kashmir village
Srinagar : Exchange of fire restarted Wednesday in a Kashmir village as security forces tried to clear the site where five guerrillas were killed in gun battle a day earlier, police said.
They said that as security forces approached the encounter site in Saidapora village near Sopore town in Baramulla district to clear the debris, a surviving guerrilla fired at them.
“Firing has again started. We are busy neutralising the militant,” a senior police officer told IANS.
Five Lashkar-e-Taiba guerrillas were killed in the protracted gun battle Tuesday when security forces surrounded two houses in the village where a group of guerrillas was hiding.
A house and a cow shed were destroyed in the exchange of fire.
