Golden Rail Corridor to start next year
The Minister for Railways, Mamata Banerjee has announced that the pre-feasibility study for the western leg (Delhi-Mumbai) of the Golden Rail Corridor would start early next year.
The Minister said in Parliament on Friday that the study is being undertaken with the help from Japan with the objective of raising speed of passenger trains to 160-200 kmph.
Mamata Banerjee said similar studies will be initiated for other corridors including Mumbai-Kolkata, Chennai-Bangalore, Delhi-Jaipur and Ahmedabad-Mumbai.
