Gujarat Polls Phase I: 6% voter turnout in first hour

Even as the first phase of polling is underway in Gujarat, where voters in 87 of the 182 constituencies of the state assembly are exercising their franchise at 44,579 polling stations, the first hour saw about 6% voter turnout.

All eyes are on the region of Saurashtra, which is the stronghold of Chief Minister, Narendra Modi’s former colleague Keshubhai Patel.
