I am innocent: Swami Aseemanand

Swami Aseemanand, who earlier purportedly confessed his role in the 2007 Ajmer blast and is considered a key conspirator in Samjhauta Express and several other blasts, on Friday said he is ?innocent?.

“I am innocent. I have done nothing wrong,? said Aseemanand while leaving an Ajmer court after his hearing.

Earlier also he had backtracked and said he was made to confess forcefully by the federal investigating agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Swami Aseemanand retracted his statement through a letter to Ajmer court on Mar 30.

“I have been pressurised mentally and physically by the investigating agencies to ‘confess’ that I was behind these blasts,” Aseemanand, now lodged in Ajmer jail, reportedly wrote to the court.

He reportedly told the court that he did not want to be an approver.

Earlier reports said Aseemanand had given a sealed envelope to the court expressing his wish to be an approver.

Assemanand, according to a media expose earlier, had said it?s not Muslims, but Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ?pracharaks? (activists), who planned and executed the bomb blasts at Malegaon in 2006 and 2008, on the Samjhauta Express in 2007, in Ajmer Sharif in 2007 and Mecca Masjid in 2007.

The confessions, purportedly to a magistrate at a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court, were published by the Tehelka magazine.
