India rules out sharing Samjhauta info with Pakistan
India’s home ministry has ruled out sharing any information with Pakistan on the probe into the Samjhauta Express blast of 2007 that killed 68 people, including 42 Pakistanis.
Media reports on Tuesday said it has asked the External Affairs Ministry to convey the same to Pakistan since the probe is at preliminary stage.
Pakistan on Monday asked India for a progress report on investigations into the Samjhauta Express blasts.
The report was sought in the wake of news reports in the Indian media about jailed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader, Swami Aseemanand, admitting to his role in the Feb 19 blasts.
Acting Deputy High Commissioner of India G.V. Srinivas, was summoned to the Foreign Office by Director-General (South Asia) Afrasiab to be told that a response from New Delhi should be conveyed at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced cash rewards upto Rs 22 lakh for any information that would help track down three prime suspects in the Samjhauta Express bombing.
