Indian farmers block the tracks against the central government in Amritsar

Indian farmers block the tracks during a sit in protest against the central and state government at the railway station in Amritsar on September 5, 2012.

Farmers were protesting the recent rise in electricity tariffs, long power cuts and imposition of new taxes in the northern Indian state, as well they were demanding compensation for destruction of their paddy crops due to power cuts and deficit rain in Punjab state.
