Jayalalithaa demands arrest of A Raja

Ahead of an expected Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s official statement in Parliament on Monday on 2G scam, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa mounted fresh attack on former Union Telecom minister A Raja demanding his arrest under Prevention of Corruption Act.

The former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said his resignation was not enough for the huge loss of the country, the tainted former minister must be booked under corruption charges and be punished according to laws of the land.

“Every aspect of the 2G spectrum scam should be probed thoroughly,” the AIADMK leader said in a statement.

“This going (Raja) is not enough and it does not signal the end of the mother of all scams,” she added.

“This overdue resignation is not a case of sealing the moral high ground. He (Raja) had been mocking at all constitutional institutions including the office of the Prime Minister, Central Vigilance Commissioner, Delhi High Court, the CAG and even the Supreme Court,” she observed.

Raja resigned on Sunday night after meeting the PM in New Delhi following an advice from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK boss K Karunanidhi in Chennai.
