Jayakar Jerome, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna’s confident, takes? charge as the Indian Ambassador to the republic? of? Slovenia on Friday. Jerome left with his family for Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, on Thursday.
Though Krishna handpicked Jerome as the ambassador in February, his formal appointment orders came at the end of June.
The delay was due to procedures followed by the Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) that had to send its proposal on such appointments to the head of the concerned country and seek its? approval.
Jerom is scheduled to present his credentials before the head of the state he is assigned to.
Jerome, Whose Grand father was the first mayor of Bangalore, began his career as a Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officer. He was later eleveted to IAS cadre.
