Maoists blast tracks to enforce east India shutdown?

Ranchi : Suspected?Maoist guerrillas detonated landmines damaging portion of railway tracks in Jharkhand to enforce shutdown of life? in three states of eastern India on Monday.

Police said the rebels blasted mines at two places attempting to cripple locomotives to protest?price rise of essentials and “corruption in the government machineries across the country”.

The first blast occurred at?Mile station in Ramgarh district during night hours and at?near the Dania station in the industrial Bokaro district.?

Another major explosion was reported in neighbouring Bihar?s Jageshwar station.?

These explosions damaged tracks disrupting train services in the neighbouring states of Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand and to some extent in West Bengal, the railway sources said.

Police believe that attacks on the railway networks by the red rebels was to disrupt works in the industrial sector of the eastern India.

The blasts caused stoppages of movement of wagons carrying raw materials like coal and copper to the industries, as well as passenger trains in the region.

However, there were no casualties in the explosions caused in isolated areas.?

The Maoists have called a shutdown in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orrissa and parts of West Bengal.
